We finally got to distribute the piglets donated through Gifts with Purpose to our beneficiaries! We were having a difficult time finding piglets to purchase in the Kisoro area. We had to be patient and wait for the piglets to mature some before we took the babies from their mother and traveled to the different families in the village where they will now live. We hosted a group of families in our presentation along with the Subcounty Chief and Community Development Officer. Our efforts have truly become a community event involving local leaders working alongside our Children's Hope volunteers.
We are excited to expand this project and are beginning construction this week on several pig pins/structures to help these families start their own piggery. Our aim is to provide assistance to our orphan caregivers in jumpstarting a sustainable income to pay for their school fees. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. We are hoping to continue to grow this project initiate in the coming year!
